Architecture of Hyderabad is grand and offers an ostentatious look to this beautiful city. Let’s start with Charminar. In 1591 Charminar was built by Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah, the founder of Hyderabad. There are four minarets in the structure, 48.7 meter high from the ground. There is a mosque and 45 prayer spaces in Charminar.
The Qutb Shahi Tombs are another architectural marvel of Hyderabad. These tombs are of the legendary kings of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The Qutb Shahi rulers built these tombs and are one of the ancient monuments in Hyderabad. The tombs are located on a raised platform. The tombs are built in grey granite and are fine examples of stucco ornamentation. The tombs are built in Hindu, Pathan and Persian architectural style.
Golconda Fort is a famous fort in India. The origin of the fort can be sketched back to the Kakatiya dynasty of Warangal and Yadava dynasty of Deogiri. Originally, Golconda was a mud-fort, which passed to the Bahmani rulers and from there to the Qutb Shahi rulers. Golconda was rebuilt by the Qutb Shahi Kings. The fort is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The palaces, the water supply system and the acoustics of the fort is marvelous.
Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture. The central arch of the mosque is built with bricks brought from Mecca. The mosque is exquisite in its architecture and feel.
Some of the other architectural marvels of Hyderabad are Birla Mandir, Osmania University, Salar Jung Museum, Chow Mahalla Complex and other edifices.
