Economy of Hyderabad is flourishing. To the gross domestic products of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad is the largest contributor. Hyderabad, the city renowned for its art, architecture and culture is the Mecca of IT industry in India. From the ancient days Hyderabad is popular for pearls. The pearl market in Hyderabad is located near Charminar and is known as “Laad Bazaar.” Pearl products are available in Hyderabad and the city excels in pearl trade. Some of the ancient trade item of Hyderabad are cotton ware, handloom clothing material, silk-ware, lacquer bangles embellished with stones, Bidri handcrafted items, Kalamkari artifacts and paintings, Nirmal artifacts, silverware and saris.

The real estate business in Hyderabad is flourishing. This prosperity in this sector is due to the boom in the information technology sector in Hyderabad. The growth of retail industry in Hyderabad took Hyderabad economy to a soaring height. There are several shopping malls in the city.
There are several academic and research institutes in Hyderabad, which contribute a lot to the economic growth of Hyderabad.
