Tourist Attractions in Hyderabad

Hyderabad was established as a token of love. The city was established by Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah, the ruler of Golconda founded Hyderabad on the banks of River Musi. The city of Bhagyanagar was founded by Quli Qutb Shah in 1591, a token of love for Bhagmathi. Bhagmathi later received the title of “Hyder Mahal” and thus the city was renamed as Hyderabad. The texture and contour of Hyderabad reminds us of the glorious Indo-Islamic culture and rich Telegu culture. Tourist attractions in Hyderabad are aplenty.

There are several tourist attractions in Hyderabad. The Charminar is the icon of Hyderabad. The edifice was built by Qutb Quli Shah to celebrate the cessation of plague in Hyderabad. The architecture is Islamic in style with four minarets of around 54 meters of height from the ground. There is a mosque and prayer places within Charminar.

Golconda Fort is a famous fort in India and a popular tourist attraction in Hyderabad. The foundation of the fort goes back to the Kaktiyas of Warangal and the Yadavas of Deogiri. Golconda, originally was a mud fort. The rulers of Golconda, the Qutb Shahi rulers expanded the existing fort. They built a colossal fort of granite. The fort fell to Auranzeb from the Qutb Shahi rulers. The water supply system, the palaces and the acoustic systems in the fort are famous.

The Qutb Shahi Tombs, located near the Golconda Fort are the tombs of the Qutb Shahi rulers. These tombs are fine example of architectural prowess of the Qutb Shahi rulers. These tombs are built in grey granite.

The Salarjung Museum houses a wide collection of antiques of the world. The 35 rooms of the museum display a range of items. In the Jade room there are objects belonging to the Asaf Jah dynsty, Shahjahan, Auranzeb and Tipu Sultan.
